"Foreign Office ‘concerned’ as Spanish harden stance on Gibraltar."

Proposed 50€ tax to cross the border by car and : "Spain is also considering closing its airspace to flights heading to Gibraltar, and changing the law so that online gaming companies operating from the territory have to use Spanish servers, which would bring them under the jurisdiction of Madrid’s taxation regime." and: "Spanish tax authorities may launch an investigation into property owned by some 6,000 Gibraltarians in neighbouring parts of Spain, as part of its EU obligations to control “fiscal irregularities”."

Is this genuine?

Anybody care?

Quite a lot of ppl judging by remarks on other Gib related threads.

General opinion seems to be that the Spanish are shooting themselves in the foot again, as it will hurt their own people the most, especially all those living in Spain and travelling in and out of Gib every day to work.

Not to worry I'm sure there is loads of other employment readily available in Spain.

Re: Gibraltar rhetoric...

With this the fifth or sixth thread on Gibraltar in the last month or so, do people realise that there are upwards of 600,000 Brits who have chosen to live permanently in Spain ? These are joined by many more who only over-winter, or over-summer here. There are also something like 4 million Brits who elect Spain as their summer playground for a week or two.

The entire 30,000 population of Gibraltar could be comfortably seated in Ewood Park, Blackburn without troubling the pie queue.

:)

They upset Fred, then they upset all 600,000 of us ! :frown:

Dunno what the pies are like in Blackburn but they're top notch up here.
I was suffering from withdrawal symptoms for months on end before I got back and please don't mention those rubbish things in the English shops and Iceland.
I'm talking real Butchers pies.

'Hollands' in Blackburn as I seem to recall.

Just as Britain has a duty of care towards the welfare of Gibraltar, so the Gibraltarians must lend a duty of care to the Brits living on the other side of the line.

Three hundred is not too old to have your bottom smacked.

Please tell me what have the Gibraltarians done wrong?
