Question Food Parcels to old people

Hi

My folks recently moved to Spain and I've been sending them critical supplies (bisto, angel delight etc) for the last couple of years - Is that still possible now?
Just tried Parcel2Go and their documents say no food - Is that no food whatsoever, or are they just being cautious?

'critical supplies' hmmm interesting description. Did you not see the ham sandwiches story from Holland? I think the days of sending food are over at least for now. Time for your folks to adjust to Spanish alternatives and probably much healthier. Depending on where they live some Brit foods can be available.

Really... You can all those in Iceland (theres one in Benidorm), or even Dealz and I only know because the FIL wanted a proper Christmas
Because its been at least 30 years since he and my wife have been together at that time.

You will find that there are sooo many things that will no longer be allowed, I'm having issues getting watercolour paper as the type I've used for ever is not available in Spain. And to send here from the Uk has doubled the price.
They are just going to have to get used to the fact, things are different here. Its one of the reasons why we left the Uk.

When we lived in the Uk we used to send stuff out to our daughter in AUZ but even that has become difficult the last couple of years.

Although I've never used them, have you tried www.britishfoods.es

I did use once www.britishcornershop.co.uk
I think they're based in Norfolk. Might be worth a try.

I would order from a British shop in Spain to avoid stuff being rejected at the border or your parents having to pay charges to pick up the parcel.

Another one is https://www.atasteofhome.net/ .

Mixed together would be a weird taste.

Wasn't the ban of both those items specifically written into the withdrawal agreement by the EU.......?
Having lived and worked in Madrid for some time, I relished some of the excellent Spanish dishes and specialities: gambas al ajillo, albondigas, jamón serrano, gaspacho, empanadas, not forgetting crema catalana, flans etc. Not once did myself or family miss or wish for any Brit food. Very sad that so many Brits there (and elsewhere) tend to be so bland with their food.

If you really really have to have a fix of some of the UK`s worst food you could always approach the manufacturers and ask them if anyone in the EU distributes their junk products.

The title gives a clue to the issue - the OP's folks are "old" and therefore less adaptable to changes in habits. But after two years, they should have been weaned off Angel Delight at least! As said, Bisto and other critical supplies can be found in supermarkets everywhere in Europe. I get my must-have Marmite from my nearest one, and ignore the rest of British essentials on the shelf. For example, French baked beans are much nicer than Heinz (too sweet)....

There restrictions on what can be sent, see here Can You Send Food in the Post in the UK? | DHL Parcel UK.

You cannot send any food items that are classed as perishables (things that can go off or that can spoil during transit).

My sentiments exactly, but they're my parents so I gotta help (apparently)
As for adapting, they've done pretty well - most nights they're out for a meal or down the town for some weird festival.
Trouble with sourcing alternatives is they're not in a large town and the current restrictions means they can't travel much to others.
Until recently, I've been putting a load of non-P like English Mustard, teabags etc. with other stuff I've been shipping out there as it's so much cheaper buying it here and sending it in a box which is already going anyway.
I'm all for adapting, but even I get hacked off going for a UK fry-up when they only offer 'brown thick vinegar' instead of HP or Daddies, so I can sympathise a bit

Thanks for the links to the ex-pat suppliers, I'll pass 'em on

I think it's so lovely of you to do this for your parents. There's no nicer gift than something you know will be appreciated and enjoyed, and that goes double when you put time and effort into it as you are. Your parents are very lucky to have you

So the bottom line is they moved to the wrong part of Spain - ie too Spanish and not British enough - should have gone to Torrevieja or Benidorm.
