Hi, has anyone recently had ther dog on the plane???? looking for as much info as poss and the price. thanks ;0

go to your local Vet, get the dog microchipped, all it's shots up to date, and get a pet passport. Any decent vet can handle all of that, and advise you which airlines will fly pets.

Once here, find a local vet,and ask them to check the microchip. We brought our dog from Hong Kong to the UK without too many problems, but once in Spain the microchip didn't register (it was inserted in Asia and some parts of the code would not show up)

The vet should be able to give you all the info you need( size of pet carrier, which airlines will not take certain breeds etc.)

our wee dog is a pekeingnese, and some airlines will not take "snub nosed" dogs

Cost from Glasgow to Alicante was around £250(plus a huge present for my niece,who had to take the dog to the airport at 3:30 am). The HK/UK trip cost 4 times that.

You have to be here ahead of the dog. The problems of arranging a flight where you and the dog are on the same flight, are many and costly.

We flew our Springer Spaniel & two cats over from the UK to Spain nearly 9 years ago with Monarch who were excellent. We all flew on the same flight and at Malaga collected them as they came out with all our baggage which we found hilarious. At the time I think we paid approx. 500 pounds plus all their vaccinations and pet passport.

seriously do they come out with the baggage????? so its ok to be the same flight? just reading the previous comment about having to be there before the dog.

With KLM airline you can take small dogs into the cabin with you.

its a mini schnauzer think it might be a bit big, are you talking about a handbag dog??? would love him to in the cabin right enough :)

You cannot take a dog in the cabin on a flight from or to the UK.

Take a look at the instructions on the DEFRA website and AFAIK dogs have to be carried in the hold in a crate of a certain size and only on a DEFRA approved carrier.

Have seen pets on luggage carousel in Paris but thats just flying within Europe.

Pets landing at Alicante, have to be collected from the cargo handling area.

there are restrictions on how many animals are allowed per flight.

This company will organise the whole thing for you and also arrange overnight kennel care if they have to leave or arrive before/after you.
A friend recently flew her dalmatian and her yorkie from the Canary Islands to the USA - The yorkie was allowed on the flight with her but had to be under 5 or 6 kilos, inc weight of flight box. Airlines are quite specific on the type and size of box too.

For this part of the journey, if needed,find out which kennel the company would use and do your own research 1st. When we flew our dog back to the UK from Hong Kong, the kennel left her paperwork at Heathrow and then sent her on to Glasgow,not even checking if the documents were with her.

When I called them and asked them to track down the paperwork, they denied there was any! Now having dealt with Cathay Pacific for years, I know, nothing, absolutely nothing, gets on their aircraft, without the correct documents.

We later found out that same kennel had made a massive cock-up by shipping a dog to Melbourne, Australia, when it should have went to Perth,causing the poor pooch to undergo 6 months quarantine,when it should have only been 24 hours.
