Default Flying Chihuahuas

Has anybody had experience flying their pets from the OK to Southern Spain (Malaga)?

We are wondering what would be best for our 3 chihuahuas? We have had a quote from one of those pet airline companies who have quoted £434 for the 3 of them. Which i think seems a very good price!

However, how will my dogs cope in the plane? Will they be terrified and hate me forever after? Or, is driving them, even worse? 2 days on a car is a long time for active chihuahuas!

having read your other thread about getting work ect, I am wondering of your dogs are passported in case you need to come back if you don't find work that pays enough for you to stay?

hello, yes we are going through the process at the moment - it's costing £166for each dog. They had their vaccinations last week and we are now waiting to have the blood tests.

You can't bring them back into uk untill 6 months AFTER the blood test not the vaccination.. What would happen if say you gave it 3 months and then you did not like it. I'm only pointing worse senario I'm sure you'll be fine cos theres no kids to feed just yourselves.. I don't think they would be allowed back in uk till nov/dec time

well my boyfriend has guaranteed work as his family live there and have their own business so we will definitely have an income from that. As for me, i will need to get some kind of bar/waitress work for the 6 months. and am just really wondering how much we should be paying in rent compared to the UK

Suggest you google for one of the specialist pet transport companies.

Our two cats came with us to Spain on the plane. We had to use BA as the low cost don't take them.

They shared a cat box and were weighed as excess baggage. The total cost was £84.

At the end of the trip they came round on the carousel with the luggage.

No ill effects at all, they settled down to Spanish life really quickly.

Hey, Im currently going through the same process of flying my new Bulldog Puppy down into Gibraltar from Luton with Monarch. Its been a time consuming but worth whilst cause, Archie will be flown down on Tuesday 22nd May, we has his Defra Pet Passport and all necessary documentation and innoculations, he will however need a rabies booster upon his arrival here.

I am using a company called TFA Logistics who are the handlers for Monarch, PM me if you would like me to give you the contact details.

Cheers Si

how old is your new puppy?

I think we may have decided to drive now. Plymouth to Santander and then self-drive across Spain. Making the journey one big adventure!

I don't think my baggage allowance would be anywhere near big enough on the plane!
