Sexy Beast.
Naughty language and violence, but great acting of an excellent story, Ben Kingsley as you have never seen him before.

In fact I like all the British made gangster films.

Ha! You'd get on with my OH - it's the one I've heard him tell people about the most, usually when talking to people with stonking houses with stonking pools and equally stonking terraces! (though not quoting the dialogue accurately.....)
Mind you, his favouritest film ever of all time unequivocally no shadow of a doubt involves a family of mafiosi, prominent use of a horse's head and quite a bit of cotton wool..!
Oh, mine? Far far sadder, I'm afraid. Sophie's Choice. After my ex and I split up I felt emotions very similar to hers. :(

Dr Zhivago...by a country mile.

Sheer quality production in every respect, from the all star cast to the historic tale of the Russian revolution, to the absolutely stunning location scenes, some of which incidently were produced in Spain.

Interesting scene where an oldish lady in trying to save the life of a child by getting it onto the moving train, fell under the wheels and was killed.

She was actually a local woman who they had recruited to play the part and at the time they were uncertain in view of the real life tragedy that had occurred, whether or not to use that particular scene.

Oh, and the music, the magical balalaikas and Lara's theme to put the iceing on the cake.
