Faro to Alicante

Promised a couple of my few remaining friends that I would visit them for a few days early next month.
Travelling solo from near Faro to near Alicante. Not afraid to rough it.
So, how to get there and back? Train, Bus, Plane or hire car?
Any advice from seasoned travellers welcome.
Will post this on both forums.

regards Tombo

Hola

It's a simple journey by car, A49 to Seville and N92 from Seville, almost a straight road - but you need a sat-nav.

I've done the journey but in various bits - never in one go

We drove from Ayamonte to Oliva one year - as Dave says its a good straight run - it took us about 8 hours all in - but we do go for it when we get in the car - we only usually stop for wee's and grub - safe journey to you xxxxx

You can fly there in 9hrs for around €330 (via LGW)

You can get a fast train direct from Huelva change in Madrid (coach to Huelva?)

You can fly (Iberia) from Seville to Alicante (via Barajas) for around €100. Coach from Faro to Seville.

You can get a train to Lisbon and fly (via Madrid) or take a train (via Madrid) or a coach (via Madrid)

Re: Faro to Alicante

I've done this journey two ways but years and years ago. From Faro to Lisbon, Lisbon to Madrid and Madrid to Alicante - on the train. I'm certain that you would be able to do the same trip by bus though I haven't checked.

I also did Faro to whatever the Portuguese place is that is on the other side of the river to Ayamonte - it may be the Portuguese equivalent of San Juan. Ferry across the river - the ferry was still running the last time I was there though the bridge may well have done for it now - to Ayamonte. In Ayamonte I took a bus to Seville/Sevilla and then got the train to Alicante but from Ayamonte you can almost certainly get a bus to Madrid and from there by train or bus to Alicante.

Basically train to the end of Portugal, cross to Spain and ask.

Or you could get a blabla car of course which would be dead easy and really cheap. I just had a quick look - about 50€

Re: Faro to Alicante

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

What I have arranged so far from Monday the 8th is :

Eva-Bus Olhao to Seville, 2hours to get to my flight Vueling, Seville to Valentia.

My destination is Altea which is not so far from Valentia.

I am returning the same way although my flight into SVA is too late to get a bus back into Portugal, so that looks like an overnight stay there.

I will keep the Forums posted of what transpires.

regards
