Exterior villa coatings
A friend of ours has had his villa re-coated in a product that doesn't require painted MONO something. Does anyone know what it's called? and if it's any good. It looks very nice.

Re: Exterior villa coatings
The real question is it a breathable paint?
Forming a vapour barrier on the outside may but not necessarily cause problems on the inside face of the walls depending on the construction.

One of the methods people have employed is putting a water sealant on before painting with a high quality paint. Problem with that is, that a surveyor told me its a bad thing to do ... to water seal your house. So I'm not sure if Mono Capa does the same thing
Edit:
I just saw the guarantee on this stuff is only 7 years

It was my understanding that mono-capa is a "waterproof mortar to coat colored facades. It is applied directly to brick, block and concrete".
In other words, it's not a paint but a breathable mortar containing colouring.
I have seen it last at least 7 years with only slight fading in colour.
There are some very good paints, which have guarantees of 12 years or more. Yes they are expensive, but you really do get what you pay for.
