Default Exchanging Philippines Driving Licence for Spanish

Exchanging Philippines Driving Licence for Spanish

I know that one can exchange a valid DL but has anyone person experience of doing so please.

My wife had a DL when she came to Spain but it expired 3 years ago. That meant she was unable to just renew it in Philippines. She has just got a new DL. We have certified copies of the first DL.

Thanks

Thanks Fred.
As often happens my wife-s situation is a little different.

She had a DL when she came to Spain but it expired (at that time exchange was not possible)

The DL expired and when she tried to renewed it last month it she found that as it was more than 3 years out of date (by a few months) she had to get a new licence.

The questions is. Can she exchange the new DL on the grounds that she had a DL before she came to Spain ?

since it seems to me that the exchange situation is just like you can exchange a UK driving licence - I can't see a problem - plenty of people exchange 'new or renewed' UK licences for Spanish ones

like many things I would say the only definitive answer you will get will come from tráfico................

This is the the condition I see as the obstacle:

No se canjean los permisos obtenidos con fecha posterior a la firma del Convenio respectivo, cuando su titular hubiera obtenido el permiso siendo residente legal en España.

Fred I appreciate I can ask Trafico, but that in effect means a special journey to their office.

I think that's your only option.

Even then you may get different answers to the question depending on which person is on the desk at the time.

I would get all the paperwork together and give it a go.

Thanks Fred but that was why I was asking if anyone had had personal experience, to save unnecessary action and expense. I did know the conditions as per the web site you directed me to. But thanks anyway.

I don't think they can have done............ most of the posters on this forum are British - that's who the forum is aimed at

is there maybe a 'phillipino in Spain' forum where you could ask
