Exchange Rate

The rate reached 1.2673 this morning which would give me 1.2610 with my FX company 10 days ago I changed at 1.2440 so it just gets better!

You're obviously a glass half full person - I transferred some a week ago and I'm cursing!

But it must be good for those who are transferring pension payments each month. One day, all being well, that will be me!:D

I check the rate every day, but don't tell my wife the recent good news. But someone must have grassed me up, yesterday she spent 120 Euros in Iceland and bought me a pair of crops.

it's not crops I need, it's a gastric band.

You may need a bit more to deal with the Spanish Govts decision to raise IVA by 3%

Re: Exchange Rate

Mind I see IVA has gone up to 21% so better hope rate stays better.

Re: Exchange Rate

The exchange rate will get even better when spain drops out of the euro and adopts the peseta.

Re: Exchange Rate

Not certain. The UK will take a hit if Spain (or any euro country) leaves the euro. That blood corrupt EU is incestuous:sneaky:

Re: Exchange Rate

impossible to tell what will happen next, apart from anything else the UK government talks down the pound when it gets too high (low corporation rates and still wrecked value of Sterling (better than it was but still ruined) is seeing a lot of inward investment and they need that to turn the economy around)

The price of a none bailout from Mrs Merkle no doubt. Mind of course increasing VAT in the UK did the trick for us didn't it? Oh yeh forgot we went back into recession didn't we ! Let's be honest politicians worldwide are just clutching at straws hoping something will work

And taking away the Xmas bonus of millions of funcionarios will be a disaster for certain industries e.g. cestas de navidad, jamon iberico etc

The policies brought in are all well enough as cost cutting measures, but in this I agree with you, surely economic growth is the goal. Havent read about any ways they are going to do that, and all these tax increases will delve Spain deeper into the myre

I guess Rajoy just has to do what Brussels/Germany say, no Qs asked

Re: Exchange Rate

I was at my bank today; there was a short line. Just one lady in front of me, an Asian lady who was trying to exchange yen for euros. It was obvious She was a little irritated.

She asked the teller, 'Why it change? Yesterday, I get two hunat fo ma yen. Today I only get hunat eighty? Why it change?'

The teller shrugged his shoulders and said, 'Fluctuations.'

The Asian lady says, 'Fluc you too!'
