Evidence of Financial Means
 

I'm married to a Spanish citizen. We've lived in the UK for 5 years but have just moved to Spain.
I have my residency meeting with the extranjeria on Monday where I need to produce my application documentation.

I just have a question about 'financial means'.
Firstly, would this be just my wife's (as the Spanish citizen) or both of us?
Secondly, will they accepts evidence of funds in UK bank accounts? We haven't yet transferred over most of our funds. Indeed, I don't yet have a Spanish bank account.

When my wife did her residency two and half years they accepted her financial means in a UK bank that was at the Málaga Office. I had emailed them first and they agreed it was OK. On the day the girl at the desk did question it but I mentioned I had an email saying it was acceptable. She then called another woman on the phone who came to the desk and checked the papers and said it was acceptable. My wife was also my dependant as no pension and I already had residency. So I can't give a definitive answer if there is one? I can only say what they did in similar circumstances with my wife.

Surely as a Spanish citizen your wife has no need to demonstrate anything in order to return to her own country?

Are you sure you're making the correct application?

Yes, she can return without having to do anything.
But for some reason that is beyond me, she wants me to be able to live here with her :D

She has to show means for both of you, but only if she's not currently working.
