European Health Cover Card - for Spanish nationals

European Health Cover Card - for Spanish nationals
I've seen people talking on here about a card that they can get from the NHS in the UK which covers them for healthcare abroad for X years.
I'm assuming the same thing exists for Spanish nationals? My OH regularly travels abroad (mostly to Denmark and Germany) and never looks into his health care cover.
Any idea what this card is called in Spain? I'm hoping I can apply for it online on his behalf as I don't stand a hope in hell of persuading him to go to his GP to get it (assuming that is the correct procedure).
I've been searching on the SAS website but can't find anything about it there.

It's called the TSE - Tarjeta Sanitaria Europea

Don't forget that he has to have been paying his SS contributions here in Spain to get the TSE card.
Also note that the TSE card only covers emergency cover whilst temporarily abroad (holiday etc.).

He's been a funcionario for the last 30 years so his SS contributions are up to date
Emergency cover is all he needs really. He does a lot of business trips, about 10-12 per year and nearly always to european countries. He never goes for longer than about 5 days so this cover is fine.
I suppose when he goes out of Europe he should really get a travel insurance policy as it seems the TSE doesn't cover that. He never does though.
