Entry to UK from Spain - test and quarantine rules

If you are fully vaccinated...

This is what you need to do if you qualify under the fully vaccinated rules for travel to England.

Before you travel to England – fully vaccinated

Before you travel to England you must:
Read more about taking a COVID-19 test before you travel to England.

If you’re in England for less than 2 days, you still need to book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test. You must quarantine until you receive a negative test result, or until you leave England, whichever is sooner.

Also, in the UK, PCR tests are linked to the flight to an absurd degree. It's not possible to get three-hour or same-day PCR test for arrival flights to the UK because the government haven't approved that yet. However they are allowed for departures.

The PLF website is flaky and may not always be available, so leave plenty of time for that. When it works, it will probably not be able to read the QR code from your vaccine certificate.

Finally, savour the feeling of filling in all these forms only for nobody to take a blind bit of interest at the UK border.

Just read on the BBC website that Covid is going to go bonkers in the UK in Jan.

This is typical uninformed reporting by the BBC - a bad headline is worth five good headlines. This so- called modelling looks at the worst and best case scenarios. Guess which one the BBC reported, The expert said” "In our most optimistic scenario, the impact of Omicron in the early part of 2022 would be reduced with mild control measures such as working from home,". To date no one has died despite having the Omicrom variant. All this is if’s and but’s and maybe’s and not actual facts.

Incorrect, one patient has died of omicron...

PM Johnson warns of ‘tidal wave’ of Omicron as UK raises Covid-19 alert level

So you know better than the PM and the BBC? They are all wrong and you are right?

Very unfair of you to react in this manner because there had not been any deaths when rspltd posted.

What Johnson said when he mentioned this is one person has died with Omicron, thats not the same as from Omicron. It strikes me as odd how when omicron was first mentioned UK government seemed to emphasise yes it spreads rapidly but is much milder. Now it seems they wish to scare everyone to death with the threat of omicron. One thing of course since the announcement of omicron is the PM being under extreme pressure of the Tory partygate scandal. Is the PM trying to push that from the headlines maybe.? This death from Omicron in the UK should be clarified was it Omicron that caused the death? Or was it that the deceased had another condition that ended their life but also contracted omicron? I'm no expert and follow all rules, I personally don't trust the Uks current government not to manipulate a situation to favour their political will.

The issue for the NHS and Omicron is that although it seems to be much milder than 19 or Delta given the extreme increase in infections that lead to a hospital stay, even a short one, could mean a zero empty bed situation so thats what all the flap is about, not how chronic this version is its all about how many people will need a bed if only for a few days before going home.

An A&E consultant from a major Welsh hospital was interviewed on TV and she said that the vast majority of inpatients at the moment were people who had not been vaccinated...for whatever reason.

Is this more of this "typical uninformed reporting by the BBC"...?

The cynical might suggest the bad news seems to be in direct proportion to the Bufoons latest transgression. Only the cynical of course.

Wow, just listening to LBC and they are suggesting there may be a full lock down in the UK from the 28 of December.

Closing the door after horse has bolted.
It seams that we are seeing repeats after repeats of inaction, too little too late. Next xmas wont be any different.

Re: Entry to UK from Spain - test and quarantine rules

We already have a de facto lock down in the UK and the latest is they are now talking about ‘Plan C’, which will mean even more restrictions.

Looks like this is only going one way right across Europe, which is more restrictions one way or another, in an effort to limit the number of hospitalisations.

I will repeat what I said before, anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated yet is a plonker, in my opinion, and a selfish one at that!

Just waiting to see if additional travel restrictions of movement between UK and Spain come into play....
