I am amazed that with a 1.9M dish you dont get the basic's(BBC ITV etv)where exactly are you located in Spain?? have u got obstructions to the shoot to the SAT. perhaps trees, or similar??

As a 1.8M will get most things, most everywhere??

There's an area around Alicante where it's a struggle to 24/7 UK terrestrial, even with a 2.4m dish.

Believe me. I have been in this game a long time since the days you needed a 2m dish to pick up the only 3 or 4 satellite channels that were strong enough to receive in the UK. (Long before Sky was even thought of)

But you are right, most other subscription sat tv packages, including D+ Spain, Premiere tv Germany, Tv Cabo portugal, Canal + France, along with some others are available free, and have been so on and off for years with the right equipment, and a bit of know how
To be honest I wouldn't watch Sky, even if it was hacked
I have been watching the latest films (in English) and premier league, La Liga football etc for many years without paying a penny in subscription fees.
And long may it continue

BTW
Did he mention the numerous XXX porn channels?? Not that I watch them of course.
You are correct spoke with my Brother In law , and sky film channels he cant get without paying ....
Asked him about the porn and he said he hasnt noticed the 120 of them

I live 40Km inland from Alicante, The problems are with certain channels, But I dont know any region where BBC/ITV are totally unobtainable with a 1.8M, I would still like to know the exact area , and I will seek a reference,,

ps Also the LNB comment is relevant , but there are other more important factors.. SIZE is always important

May not have a 1.8...would it sound right if we just had the next size down? Big enough to look ugly but not HUGE enough to block views....

Sorry I'm soooo awful at sizes .....!!! Well some sizes that is

Before anyone complains that Spanish TV is crap they carry the same shows we used to get on Sky only difference is the comercials are in Spanish.

To answer your question you'll get the most channels with Telefoncia or Canal + for free TV but limited channels pick up a TDT box about 50 euros form any electronics shop.

I should note the only thing you won't get here British shows. TV over here is 98% American with a few local shows thrown in for good measure, that's pretty much true anywhere. Why I don't know, but I've never seen a British show dubbed.
Thanks mate.......will talk to Mr E when he gets back from uk.

Bought an ariel to received Spanish Tv but my DIY distaster hubby hasn't put it on yet.

Really want Spanish TV essentially but would need some english tv ...just to veg on an evening after a day with my beautiful but challenging lil devils !

As I said size is important, if you are on CB from Say Denia down to Mazzaron, and inland by say 50km you are gonna need a minimum
1,8/9 to get BBC and ITV channels,, CH4 can be a bit iffy late afternoon, CH5 will be ok, loads of other stuff will be ok,

In some areas you can get away with a carefully set up 1,4m which will sometimes give you ITV BBC channels, but consistency will be an issue, In Torrevieja for example it seems to work really well, but in Hondon Valley u need a 1,8/9M

So its really where you live and then what you can get for the size you are prepared to put up with
