Default Endesa - Electricity Bills in Axarquia

Has anyone had issues with the company overcharging them? Like, several hundred euros being taken from my a/c by dierct debit even though monthly estimated bills have been taken and the house is empty all bar about 4 weeks per annum

Does anyone have an email/postal contact to pursue them from UK?

Does anyone know the approx standing charge , per month or whatever, for a small 2 bed house, with zero usage?

Is there any sort of regulator/consumer group like Ofwat in UK that one can seek advice from?

Thanks if anyone has any tips

You can cancel this bill at your Spanish bank within a month of the money being taken. Then get them either to attend or your management company to read the meter. Then pass on the new reading. This has been discussed on this forum before just search for Endesa. The rates/website are here.............

Thanks for the info - have done steps you suggest but Endesa won't play ball with the house maneger in neither language so am feeling rather helpless short of instructing lawyers to pursue.

Endesa are one of the biggest companies in Spain so I am sure you are not the first by a million households to be an absent occupier.

I would check your contract with Endesa. I have for the past few months been getting our account with them changed it our name not as easy as it sounds. Anyway having had Endesa out to put check on the system and ok it all I returned back to the UK and got an e mail from my solicitor who is sorting it out with a copy of the Endesa contract which had the wrong house number on. The previous owner had mentioned that there had been some confusion over the number but never did anything about it. I have contacted solicitor who is sorting it out. Worth checking.

Thanks, advice is appreciated - Bob sounds like you have something maybe similar. The house is a small v basic 2 bedder no air con or pool and the meter reading hasn't yet reached the estimated level i was billed at over two years ago, since when more than 1500 Euros has been taken by Endesa on a largely empty house

Yes ours is a basic 2/3 bed village house no p0ol or aircon not had an electric bill yet. will let you know what ours is when I get one we visit every couple of months for about 10 days at a time. Cost quite a bit to get bil changed to our name as had to get new meter box and some other work done in the box/meter.

David cancel the direct debit at your Spanish bank you appear well in credit so they will not cut you off when you are close to the true reading reactivate the direct debit. Otherwise Endesas computer will keep taking the money which you I am sure could use for other things.
