Emigrating to Alicante, Spain

Hello,
I've been on business to Alicante, Spain a few times, and I have decided later this year, or early next year that I would like to emigrate over there - my work is not a problem as I am self-employed and can do what I do whereever I am in the world. However, What do you people do about your friends? Is it easy to make friends in Spain as I know absolutely nobody over there?

Do you speak spanish fluently?

I'm in IT, mainly I do web site development, but also servers, and that sorta stuff.

Ohh, and I speak a little spanish, not much though - I was planning on taking lessons later on this year, so that when I do actually get to spain I can converse.
