Electric Roller Shutters

Has anybody converted the existing roller shutters in an apartment to electric?

Is it possible? Where would you get the parts?

If not, does anyone know if there is a supplier/fitter nearby?

Hi MikeJ,

Almost anything is possible, but perhaps not permissible... Check with your Pres and Administrator, especially if you are planning to change the look of the "persianas" from the outside.

Leroy Merlin sells the gadgets for electric roller blinds/shutters (look online). So do companies supplying "toldos" which also can be operated at the push of a button as you sip your chilled wine...

hth,

Thanks for the tip - LM seem to have just the thing: either a motor which works on the existing tape or a roller motor which fits inside the existing mechanism. I shall see if I can get some installation instructions, too.

I'm planning on automating the existing so no change of appearance (actually I can't see the point but the OH thinks it'll be neat!)
