Eh up me ducks from Leicester
I just love this site, its so full of good information.
I read recently that there are a lot of people on here from Lincoln and Leicester. I just wondered who and where you all are, (especially the Leicester ones). Im from Syston, 5 miles north of Leicester. I moved here 2 years ago and now living in Salinas near Sax.......love it to bits.

And I once lived on the edge of Eyres Monsell in Aylestone ! Leicester is almost unrecognisable these days.. changing at a rapid pace. The counrtyside is beautiful...east Leicester in particular heading towards Rutland, but the city is bland and uniform as most British cities. And try explaining that accent to Spanish friends...

Well it's a small world....Mother lived in Aylestone until she died three years ago, as did my grandparents. Aunt was in Wigston Lane till she went to the happy hunting ground in the sky. Sister lives in Groby but about to move to Isle of Skye. Niece in Noddy land called Thorpe Astley. And I still have good friends in Kilby. Though they have had police car chases through the village. Aren't some of the villages lovely though ? Rothley, Mountsorrel (longest village in England) and all the places heading towards Rutland.
Sunny but cold here today....all I want is a cocktail at the chiringuito on Bongo Beach watching the sun go down. Off to cook a mountain of linguine.

I agree leicester has changed greatly the town centre is a mess i have a shop in oadby used to be a realy nice area but we have stabbings fights at night smashed shop windows even a dead body found in the fox pub car park only a few weeks ago . Most areas are like this now even the small villages get trouble . my parents have now gone to almeria had enough with england would not come back now . we brought a property near sorbas and hopefully we will be out full time in the next 5years can only dream at the moment.

A bit late I know, but just found this thread whilst browsing. Is it something in the East Midlands water that makes people want to emigrate ?
I was born in Stamford to a farm in Ketton, grew up on a farm in south-east Notts not far from Granby (where I live now), we have another farm at Scalford near Melton Mowbray (Leics), I lived in Stamford for a couple of years up to 2004.
Almost lived in Lincoln to be near my (now-ex) partner; family are mostly from around Lincoln and the fens.
Got ex-partners in Peterborough, Cambridge, Leicester, Mansfield, Nottingham as well as Leeds and further afield (jeeze - sound like a right slapper! )
Looks like there are a few of us with strong connections to the area.
