Please could someone tell me whether it's usual for the above stores to be open over Easter?
I'm thinking of Easter Thursday 20th March and would be going to the stores at Alcorcón, Madrid.

I've looked on both websites, but it only gives information about authorised Sunday opening on specific dates throughout the year.
I'm presuming that any Easter dates are not classed as normal weekdays??

I'm used to everything being shut here.............but just wondered whether it might be different in Madrid?
I can always phone the stores direct, but thought I'd ask if anyone knew.

If it is a public holiday (especially a religious one) then all shops will be closed, unless it is a Panadería.

Hi Sam,
Just asked hubby as he works about ten mins from there and he says they are definitely closed on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st but open again on the 22nd.
Madrid is the same as anywhere else in Spain as regarding opening hours for Sundays and festivos, the only exception is the area around Sol and Gran Via in the centre of Madrid where new laws were brought in at the beginning of this year allowing stores to open on Sundays and festivos because of the huge amount of tourism in that area. Unfortuneately, no IKEA or Leroy Merlin there!
One last thing I´ll add is, I know it´s a bit further round for you to drive from the South, but it´s worth going to the IKEA in San Sebastian de los Reyes in the North of Madrid as we more often than not end up there as they seem to be the only store that ever has all the stock in.

I had already looked at the website.
I understood it to mean that the store was open on normal working days and those additional holiday days (the vast majority of which are Sundays)
It seemed unlikely that Easter opening was a possibility, but you never know.
Even Spain might cave in to commercial pressures!
For example, shops were open for the first day of the January sales a day earlier in places like Madrid and other big cities, whereas the rest of us had to wait until 8th January.

Our posts just crossed; but seeing as I'd already typed out my previous reply, I posted it anyway!

It's great to know about the San Sebastian de los Reyes IKEA too; will look into that.
Obviously, as we have a 3 hour drive to Madrid, it would be handy to find what we want in stock!
(I expect I'll phone the stores beforehand, but the other store is a good option)

Seeing as you're living in Madrid, I don't suppose you happen to know whether San Jose (19th) is a festival day there, do you please??
It's not here.

We have the use of a lorry on 19th and 20th and need to buy several large items. Looks like we might not be able to make any use of it
