Dual SIM telephones

Dual SIM telephones
I thought some of you might have one of these.
It's about time I bought a new phone and while looking around I've noticed a few dual SIM ones. I do still have two SIM cards, one spanish and one british.
Is it worth having one of these? Are there any complications? Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Dual SIM telephones
Hi I use a dual sim phone without any problem uk and Spanish sim, they are mainly Chineese copies unless you want to pay a lot. The one I have at the minute is a touch screen copy of a HTC called a hero an works fine get internet wireless blue tooth etc can get mapping but for some reason GPS won't lock on but other than that great. They do tend to be heavier on battery use especially in weaker signal area due to them monitoring and searching for 2 signals. You can have both sims active at once and just accept a call in normal way. For making call or texting you do it as normal and then choose which sim to use, very easy. Much better than carrying 2 phones around. You can get a basic dual sim phone on E Bay starting about £25 up to just over £100 depends what you want. Beware of the devices they sell for converting to dual Sim as they don't monitor both at the same time.

I seem to remember these used to be quite common a few years ago, and something I was thinking about as I wish to retain my UK and SP mobiles.
It is such a pain remembering both of them and they have different charge times and worse still different connectors.
But that keeps little chinese chappies in work making all those chargers

OMG :-) I had one of those many moons ago back in Scotland, older version, would hope they have improved considerably, it drove me mad.
If the new one worked better I might look at it as I need new phones, the screen on one is badly scratched, I chuck it often these days lol my UK one is old too. One phone might be a good idea.

the technology is there but I am sure it is being restricted by the networks not by technology.

I have a current project and I have now had to go to plan C because of my and others inability to complete A and B.
Jeez, this is like being back at work, SLA's, Project Planning, Cost Analysis, Debt Reduction etc etc and all I am doing is moving to Spain

Re: Dual SIM telephones
The ones I have used had 2 have been fine no problems or restrictions on using them as both came unlocked. It is no different to using an ordinary mobile other than when you call out it asks which sim you want to use easy as that. This one is like the one I have now believe it or not you can even get tv on it! all be it analog tv. http://www.solonomi.com/news/hero-h2...oid-2-2-phone/

thanks again for all the replies, but in the end I didn't go for a dual-card option.

Re: Dual SIM telephones
Very Missile I hadn't noticed that I merely put the link on to show the type of phone. A lot of people do say that however where do the likes of Vodafone O2 3 get there phones that they brand as their own? no doubt China. I can only say I have had 2 from China (1st one still working perfect but wanted a touch screen) not had any problems so far other than 1 key came off the keyboard of the first one which I glued back. Second one the one same as in the link (I didn't get it from here by the way) works fine only thing I can't get working properly is the GPS (get mapping via broadband and wireless but Gps not locating satellites researching this is a problem with a number of branded android phones but I am not confident enough to try the fixes suggested as for me GPS not important). Samsung do dual sim blackberry style phones if you want a branded one range from about £50 to £75 unlocked>

Re: Dual SIM telephones
i may humbly suggest using dual type cell phones by headset or hands free only. i have a feeling that they would have higher SAR values...
