Re: Driving restrictions for over 65's
Another rubbish report from a local rag. Many of these restrictions have been in place for years, based on medical conditions rather than age. As for restricting pensioners to non motorway roads, they are definitely less safe than motorways. Licences for over 70s have been every 5 years for a few years now, previously it was every 2 years.
A friend has only the use of one eye, and a few years ago was restricted to 100kph and was required to renew more frequently, that has been changed and no restrictions now apply. How on earth could they restrict journey distance? Tachographs on every car? bobd22, You have to have a medical BEFORE you even get your first licence and at every renewal thereafter. It is a far more stringent system than in the UK where you can self declare your fitness to drive - that is ridiculous! |
