They should have fuel again by tomorrow.

Sort of thing you'd have expected at a Spanish airport first?

never ran out of fuel at sea, always had a bloody big tanker slogging along behind us
and the refinery is only a few miles from the airport, with a single pipe connection - if there's any budding terrorist's watching these goings on.

That's what happens when you get local authorities running airports, same as East midlands....they couldn't run a chipshop

only sailed on the Norfolk Broads
been thru the doldrums many times, as a shellback presenting pollywogs for their rite of passage in front of Neptune
All in a hot and copper sky,
The bloody Sun, at noon,
Right up above the mast did stand,
No bigger than the Moon.
Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.
there seem to be a few Lethargians here on BE and I include myself in that . . . . .

Re: Don't worry if you're flying from Manchester tonight..
how can a "non-profit" organisation funded and bailed out by public "donation" be expected to understand the ramifications of business ethics, customer loyalty, competition, Just In Time processes,
they cocked it up when it was found out how many had dumped £millions into the Icelandic Banks and it stuck there for about 5 years.
How can they be expected to ensure that purchases of fuel are imperative to the business operation when they cannot run a childs social service department without being picked up every year for the past 10, covering it with a bland "we are doing our best".
Privatise the lot, Airports and Councils and do away with Chief Execs being paid twice that of the Prime Minister for cocking it all up and having to be bailed out by the rate paying public every year.

The problem was fuel quality issues. Not really the fault of the airport owners. They were right to refuse to stuff airliners with dodgy fuel.
