Dogs in Spain
Is Spain a dog friendly country? I'm a dog groomer and am exploring the idea of moving to Spain and opening a grooming salon there. Do many expats own dogs? How easy is it to start a business there, is it fairly straight forward or is there a great deal of bureaucracy involved?
Thanks for any help

Re: Dogs in Spain
Hi
I don't know how easy it would be to set up a business in Spain but I do know plenty of others have done it. The Spanish don't seem to be dog lovers as such as there are many abandoned puppies and adult dogs around the SE of Spain where we are... very sad and frustrating. Most of the British expats we know have adopted at least one rescued dog in Spain so there is certainly a market for dog grooming. Good luck!

Of the three vets that I have used locally, they all offer pet grooming services on site.

As in many other places this depends on where you are. There are country people and city people and attitudes can be hugely different. I live in Barcelona where there are loads of dogs and people can be a little dog crazy. There's no shortage of pet groomers though.
