Divorce confirmation please
 

Hi there ,I’m trying to aid my brother in getting confirmation of his divorce .He previously lived in Spain but now resides in the UK .His ex wife applied and was granted a divorce from him in Spain .He now wants to remarry and although he has a copy stating a divorce was granted he needs the confirmation that it was lodged in the civil court as well ,( he knows it was as she has since remarried)
He has been trying to obtain this for almost a year with no joy .Has anyone got any pearls of wisdom of a way to get this these simply .many thanks

I believe it is the case that a divorce certificate as such does not exist in Spain, it is recorded as a note on the wedding certificate. A copy of this should held in the Registro Civil. My recommendation would be to pay a gestoria in the town where he got married and where the wedding should be recorded to check the public records and get a notarised copy
There are also several online certificate services that can do this for you for a fee.

sorry I should have added he was married in the UK but his ex wife divorced him in Spain .
Would this make a difference

Yes we know it’s being recorded there ,it’s just proving impossible to obtain confirmation of it

There is an official website : https://www.registro.pro/online/
If you cannot navigate it maybe you should contract a gestoria ( probably anywhere in Spain ) who can do the process for you.

Thankyou ,I will give that a try ,he has contacted a solicitor this end ,but no joy .Looked at that site yesterday,not the best to navigate ,but I will try guide him from my end .Thanks
