That’s odd, here in Ayamonte we had our DC’s installed on our and iPhones and iPad's at the council offices at the start of the pandemic since we wanted to travel and we needed to download the various health docs. Must have been early 2019.
We have not been asked to update them although we do use them regularly to down load up to date Health docs and make appointments on the Salud website.

The certificate is only valid for 2 or 3 years, then it must be renewed/updated

Thats exactly the place we have in Ayamonte however I didn’t know it was called that just thought it was a sub office of the Ayuntamiento.

According to the FNMT website the period of validity for a digital certificate is 4 years.

1146 - ¿Qué período de validez tiene un Certificado FNMT de Persona Física? - Start - Sede

Wow, it must have been even longer ago that we first got them.

Thanks for the correction

Yes I was told it lasted four years when we first got it.

I think they only exist in small towns villages and are a project set up by the Junta but administered from the Town hall. I must admit when we first bought here I thought they were some sort of youth club as I saw mainly younger people going in. I then found out anyone can use them. For instance if you don't have a printer you can use them to print off documents etc for a few centimos. I believe to use the computers you have to register but can then use them. I say that as in the day I got my digital certificate sorted out the man doing it mentioned registering me to use all the facilities but that side of the system was down so he couldn't do that. They are certainly useful and in my experience helpful.

Not just small towns. the one in Benidorm is near the tram station (and Benidorm has over 50,000 inhabitants)
Its a great place to visit if you need help with official paperwork because (if they are in the mood of course) they will answer questions and help you find what you need...
We have been in there a couple of times and the locals use it as well, you are supposed to get an appointment but we have never bothered.

Here in Andalucia the official Junta site says Guadalinfo centres are in towns / villages with under 20000 inhabitants. Maybe regions vary. Here also we now have to make an appointment to go at the town hall. We didn't used to, that said if if it's just advise the man who runs it helps without an appointment. Yes they are very useful.

We have one in the centre of Velez-Malaga, Bob. so not just in smaller places. We haven't used it ourselves but they seem to be very good community resources and I know they run courses sometimes on various basic aspects of computer use to help those who are not familiar with them.

Yes they are very good and useful to know about. It may be that the info from the Junta is out of date? Either way as you say big or small town worth finding out if you have access to a Guadalinfo centre.

I have found the answer to why some larger towns than 20,000 inhabitants also have Guadalinfo centres. It's as I said plus areas of larger towns that have deprived areas and to prevent inhabitants being excluded . The power of the internet lol¿Qué es Guadalinfo? - Guadalinfo

We are in the usual pre-elections phase at the moment and can hardly move for Council employees and people on temporary job creation schemes repairing and painting things. Better than them never getting done at all I suppose<
