Default Diaz Ferran busted.

Looks like they've caught a real big fish in the net now the amnesty is over.

Seems to have had a very nice nestegg tucked away whilst pleading poverty, incl 1 kilo of gold, 11 motors and hordes of cash.

Hurrah, another one nailed!! He declared himself bankrupt and unable to pay 400 million in taxes, having stashed all his money in Swiss bank accounts and under the mattress.

The sort of person who gives capitalists a bad name!

Very good news, wonder if it will serve to "encourager les autres"? Probably not, these people are so arrogant in thinking that only the little people pay tax that they believe they're untouchable.

Diaz Ferran was the head of the Spanish business institute despite the fact that every business he has ever ran has gone bankrupt

So not only is he completely incompetant, but he was a complete crook as well

Some may say he was the best possible person to stand up for Spanish business

This is not something I would have posted a year ago, but I am starting to get disillusioned. I must stop watching Salvados!

Spain isnt the only country with those people

It is about time they did more to stop them, everyone knows who they are, where they live, only the tax authorities seem to be frightened of them.

well the US attitude used to be that going bankrupt a couple of times makes you more aware of the problems and will not do it again - agains the UK where you become a leper instantly.

but over the years it has seemed to me to be the crooks and those with excellent PR and that personal "charisma" that get these jobs, and milk it for all its worth.
Just look at the UK's many and varied companies who have been involved in scams and wasting of the public purse in the jobs for the unemployed, learning etc.
There are probably as many in Spain as the UK who fall into this category.

There's a report on the news this morning about him, showing all the stuff the cops have seized from his properties.

Unbelievable, must be a whole Truckload of Cash, Ferraris,Rolls Royces just about every flash car ever built, stash of Gold, and all the rest.
The properties themselves must be worth quite a bit, even at todays prices.

Looks to be enough to pay off the whole Spanish govts debt in one fell swoop...........and to think the poor guy is bankrupt.

No indeed, they are all over the world. It would be nice to see other countries following Spain's example and going after them more aggressively. I don't remember reading about any Greeks getting the same treatment, for example!

if that is the definition of being bankrupt then where does that leave the rest of us ??

perhaps it is having total trust in the BH - as with Sir Philip Green of Arcadia/BHS, the shareholding of which is all in an investment trust in Jersey "controlled" by his wife who permanantly lives in Monaco, and received a shareholders dividend of approx £1billion in 2005. "He" owns a £32m yacht and £20m Gulfstream.
Considering the ducking & diving this pair use to ensure they pay little or no tax on anything that would be a big coup for HMRC.
