Dial Up Internet
I have just got a telephone line installed by Telefonica, which I understand in itself was quite an achievement. They could not however connect me to ADSL. I have tried to use a dial up connection but the connection takes many times to connect and then dies after a few seconds. I have tried a few service providers. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?

John Did they tell you WHY they couldn't install ADSL? Dial-up is a pain and very expensive. We have a few friends who use wireless internet ADSL broadband connection and it seems efficient. Here's the website: http://www.telitec.com/ |

Re: Dial Up Internet
Thank you for all of your replies. I did order ADSL when I ordered my phone line but they said there was no capacity left in my area. The dial up I have been using works fine in my office (on the same computer) but not at home which makes me believe there is something strange with the phone line.

I had the same run around as you. Apparantly there is some work needs doing in Central or around my area in order that the signal for ADSL can reach the house. I was talking with a technician who was working in the box the other day and he said in my area the cables need changing and this work has been waiting over 3 years to be implemented!! Hope you get yours sorted out - dialup is OK but very slow only runs at 33kb on a good day - which I think is ridiculous in 2007!! |
