Dependents status

I know there has been a great deal of information regarding healthcare posted previously, but my specific question is: I am receiving a UK state pension but my husband is 5 years younger so does not yet qualify. In Spain, would we BOTH qualify for reciprocal (free) healthcare provision (Brexit allowing, of course) as he would be my dependent??

Yes, when you ask for the necessary S1 form he needs to be mentioned as your dependent he is then issued with an S1 as your dependent.

Been there, done that.

Has he now been issued with an S1 in his own right? If so, have you re-registered him or just left the existing situation in place?

Glad that you dealt with it, so sensible. The reason that it makes sense to re register is that if anything happens to your partner you have enough paperwork and issues to be dealing with without having the added bit of hassle of then having to sort out your own health care rights.

Make sure that his name is on the form as your dependent and he will qualify for the same free health care as you.

Did you retain the same numbers on your health card? Did they issue a new card?

I think the number stayed the same the difference was in the status on the new card from FARM-D to FARM-P

Fred, I took all the new paperwork to our local clinic and they told me to keep my original card and all they did was update my new details on the computer. All sorted in 5 mins

You say you went to your local clinic. I thought would be handled by the local INSS office.

I took my newly issued S1 forms (and Passport, photocopies, residencia card and padron) to the INSS office and they put me into their system and gave me some paperwork to take to my local health centre for me to register locally to get local health services. As I was already in the system, originally through my OH's S1, they just updated their computer with my new paperwork. I kept my original card.

Exactly the same except Velez INSS issued a new card, by post, about three weeks.
