We used Global Currency Exchange Network. They were recommended by the agents we bought through [email protected] they were very competitive with the exchange rate and we got a good deal.

I regularly use worldwidecurrencies they always get the money in on time and don't charge for their services.

Make sure you shop around, you can save a few pounds on that kind of transfer, and presumably you will be making a few more too.

I've used HIFX and ITT MoneyCorp, both of which can be found on Google. You can also buy forward. For instance when it hit 1.5 recently you could have bought the next two transfers also, if you knew the date. You pay a small percentage to the exchange company at the start, keep the balance in your building society gaining interest, and then pay the balance when its due at the r/ex that you agreed. The rate you get is slightly less than a spot rate.

I used Currencies Direct, very straightforward and no problems, also no fees on their part.
