Value of pound doesn't necessarily correlate to disposable income. Brits are now finding Europe extremely expensive, while Europeans are finding Europe to be quite reasonable. Here, Germans and other Europeans are happily paying 20% higher prices this year. Brits have all but vanished. Too expensive.

Note: The title suggests we're desperate for British tourists. But they're really only talking about Magaluf. The rest haven't even noticed.

Europe might be more expensive but holidays to Spain can still massively undercut uk staycations. When the covid hysteria stops and people don’t have to take constant covid tests and show vaccine passports they’ll be back in numbers. Just the buzz has been killed even at the airport with the ever changing covid politics. Traveling at the moment is more stress that it’s worth. People are booking again though.

No kidding. The last time I went over for a week I rented a house in the South West for more than it cost me for a weeks all inclusive in Mexico. Even with the absurd testing regime, albeit a bit lighter now, I find it cheaper to fly family members out here rather than spend a few days in the UK.

This is a load of codswallop!

Spain is a lot cheaper than a UK.

Re: Currency

I doubt Brits will find the rest of Europe expensive and there is a market for everything. Working people used to save for a year until they could afford a holiday in Europe and still went but today an unemployed person in the UK can afford a holiday abroad. For us a coffee in Spain (the part we go to) is more expensive than here and I still buy one. Apart from young people who like to get drunk, most people are prepared to pay a premium when they go abroad.
