Croydon Airport

Looking up information on the airport which was once London's main airport pre-war, I came up on this snippet:

On the morning of 11 July 1936 Major Hugh Pollard, and fellow Special Operations Executive officer Cecil Bebb left Croydon Airport for the Canary Islands in a de Havilland Dragon Rapide aircraft, where they picked up General Francisco Franco, taking him to Spanish Morocco and thereby helping to trigger the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War

Well we've taken the blame for starting almost every other war in the past thousand years or more, so we may as well carry the can for the Spanish Civil War also. ;)

Franco and his men did much of their preparation in the Esperanza region of Tenerife and I also know the remains of an old airfield not far from the newer Reina Sofia airport which could well have been the starting point for his actions.

Well yes, I'm given to understand that in certain ME countries they still believe we control world affairs and that the US is our puppet! If only they knew the reality...
