He's not Scottish, but shares a surname with a fast food chain? I would urge avoidance - overly keen on the subcontractor...

Re: cowboys

I have a brit builder but he uses Spanish workers, they are okay, he put some wood laminates down when I was away and when I came back and saw it. I asked if he had a hangover when he was doing it, he sorted it out. But his workers are fine. I personally won't pay anyone until the job is done and that's how I do business with him. If the job isn't done right it has to get fixed before he gets his money. Doesn't seem to be a problem with him. He came from recommendation by a friend and she had been recommended by hers. But he is doing more work and his workers are good, they arrive at 7.30 and work all the way through until 4. I've just had some spanish gardeners come in and sort my garden out, it's quarter of an acre and they also arrived at 8.30 5.30 and only stopped for about half an hour just to have a break as it was also hot. They have done a good job. So people who say the Spanish are lazy etc, from the ones I've met, they haven't been.

My garden no longer looks like a Jungle... and I need to practice more Spanish garden words as today it was like charades. But he will learn English and I will learn Spanish in the process....do you think I should take English lessons off the bill:D
