Default Council & Income Tax

Hi all,
I have received a tax bill as follows:
Council Tax: 439.62 Euro
Tasa De Residuos: 45.41 Euro
Non Resident income tax: 140.73 (x2) Euro
representation fees (to pay above bills): 66 (x2) Euro
Total: 905.70 Euro

We have a 3 bed duplex...
Some questions:
Council tax - I believe easy to pay at post office.
Income Tax - is this also payable via post office ?
Income Tax - with no profit from Esuri .. is this right ?

Comments and feedback would be most welcome..
We travel to Esuri Fri night .. so see you in the bar

Pay council tax at any bank - simply take in bill and they will do the necessary.

Same with income tax - use bank.

As a non-resident you are deemed able to obtain rent on your property (even if you don't) and so, are taxed accordingly.

The charges (66 x 2) is much higher than we pay. We do a joint return and it costs us 40 euros.

In Ayamonte only certain banks are authorized by the Ayuntamiento to accept payment of the council tax (impuesto sobre bienes inmuebles) and I assume it is the same for the non-resident income tax, so its worthwhile obtaining the list of such banks from the tax office situated in the street between the main town hall square (Laguna) and the ferry to Vila Real docking area.
Hope this helps.

They have them by the short and curlies, so charge what they like.
There is a great business opening there for an Expat with a bit of Spanish paperwork knowledge. ;-)

JDR, that opening has already been filled by the so-called English speaking lawyers here, who are raking it in.

Thanks for the responses ... saved me 120Euro plus VAT ..

I thought 60 Euro's plus VAT was high .. standing in a bank queue is not so difficult ..
Does anyone know which banks will accept the forms ?

George & Rosalia is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Council & Income Tax

Hi All,

I understand that many Spanish and ex-pats use the services of a 'gestor', I think the name is, who deals with local tax and regular income tax returns. I understand they are cheaper than lawyers or accountants. I would appreciate, by PM or otherwise, the name of any local gestor that people use and have found useful. I dont care if they do or do not speak English. I have asked before but only got one email address that did not respond.

best wishes
George

Hi Alandeve

Was the €60 plus Vat * 2 being charged by you lawyer just to pay the bill?
Also what it the story about the double charge?

regards

Last year I went into the the local Tax office, picked up the bill and completed a DD. I had to pay that years tax at the bank but this year the bill has been taken out of my account.

Job done. The numbers were very similar to the ones quoted in the first post. I also have a 3 bed apartment.

ADA will provide this service - I don't know what they charge as I don't use them.
