AS an outsider there, I can't honestly say I rate many of the beaches that much on the CT. Probably the best is Almuñecar, it´s a pleasant enough sort of place, and maybe Salobreña, but not sure I´d want to live in either. I see the OP comes from Jávea, I always thought that was one of the nicer places on the CB, although seemingly like everywhere, it suffered from a lot of construction several years ago, IMHO. Don´t know if the OP is looking for something similar to Jávea, or something different, but if he wants something similar, ie beaches near a town, probably La Herradura (pebbly beach) or Almuñecar with it´s choice of beaches. I agree with someone else here, forget east of Motril.

Best beaches Costa de la luz. Beaches in elviria, marbella take some beating too. sand dunes and soft clean sand. Although some near the don carlos area are busy.

I know people who live within walking distance of a beach on CDS and they never go to it!

You are probably right as we only visited the one time I did find it a pleasant beach front.

I know what you mean. I lived on the Sussex coast for many years.

I never went on the beach - that's what the trippers do!

I never have been a laying on the beach type, but I walk the beaches near me most days, there are so many different one's to choose from. However, most of my neighbours seem like you, they rarely go anywhere. My friend and neighbour will ask me where I have been walking today, I tell him, and I know he hasn't got a clue, and it's probably less than 20-30 miles away. Life's too short to sit around the house!

We are only an hour away from the beach but haven't been there in four years! I've no desire to go either as I'm quite aware of what goes in the water and why the need for the twenty five scum cleaning boats along the CDS.

I can get to the beach in 10 minutes by car, 20 minutes by bus/tram or 45 minutes' walk, but I only ever go to walk along the seafront and have a drink in a chiringuito. I hate lying on beaches (sand makes me itch) and although I love swimming it has to be in a pool not the sea.

You have a point there and the sea seems to have got dirtier since the downturn as I said earlier you don't seem to see the cleaning boats as much certainly not around Torre del Mar. By the way anyone know what the pontoons moored up of Torre are for?
