Costa Esuri Verses Costa Del Sol
Well, this year instead of going to my usual hideout in Portugal I went to Sotogrande. Sotogrande was ok - fantastic Marina, great properties etc but not much to do. We visited Puerto Banus - very tacky, Tarifa (run down) although a fantastic beach and they are definitely missing a trick.
All told, I realised that the reasons I like Costa Esuri and Ayamonte so much are as strong as ever. It is undoubtedly once of the best parts of Spain and when things pick up - it will become the best part of Spain to own property.

We love Costa Esuri and can't imagine living anywhere else but I just hope it doesn't go the way of the Costa del Sol and become a haven for Brits who can't live without fish & chips, full english breakfast and Karaoke etc. Regards Bryony

I totally agree, 4 yrs ago we went to stay in Estapona for a week so that we could go to the last two days of the Volvo Masters at Valderama and then spend the rest of the week chilling. We hated it so much that after the golf we wanted to come home but sadly we were committed.

Yes but luckily thats the only place. I do think though that as the majority of holiday makers who come here are Spanish we are unlikely to be inundated with fish & chip shops, curry houses etc. Please don't think I don't like that sort of food but I prefer to eat it when I visit the UK and I'm sure people who come here just for a 2 week holiday can manage without and eat the great local food.

Jags is fantastic and we need it in CE - it's popularity is testament to that. Its the only proper new business that opened after the crash and after we lost all hope of hotels/commercial centres/supermarkets etc etc. However I would like to see more new businesses coming in as well, so we can have a spectrum of places to eat/drink/socialise... and other things
I was excited a while back when I saw all sorts of renovations going on and lots of expensive equipment going in at the c/centre containing the local (I posted about it). We sneaked in and had a good gander around and found the 2 places on top with great views and a great space for creating an entertainment area...
For Marina Esuri residents, Id also like to see the security hut turned into a kiosko like we see in town. I think they are fantastic and amazing how much you can sell from them. I'd have someone take it rent free and do a kiosk service drinks etc, with seats in the area between the main gates supplied by them. Closing at 10 - 11pm so there is no noise issue with the residents. It would make it much more of a community feel... and no cost to us. An ideal place = 'village square' where we can enjoy a drink and eg kids can run around.
Aaaah dreams!

Great idea - no profit in it though... I'd drink all the profits

It's an eye opener how much is spent on sweets and toys.

I'm hoping that with the influx of Spanish and the price drops of properties that some enterprising Spaniard will take a unit at the commercial centre (above the 'local' = shop). There is an amazing location there with great terrace and views for a new resto/bar. Another on the opposite side. With the owner giving up to the bank - I'm sure the prices will drop and there is an interesting opportunity for someone to take this over.

But yes, bring on some more Spanish culture, tapas bars etc. Far better than fish and chips!!!

What would be nice is to see the owners of the shop expand to the terrace above earn some real money from food and drink facilities. They have done a great job keeping the shop running and now they have installed some sun shades outside the shop. I know that Mr Shop wasn't very well recently so hope he us better now. Make sure you spend some coffers in there to keep em going!!
