costa brava or del sol

Hi all,

would like to hear from anyone living in the coata brava near figerues, we have moved over to cds and are currently renting but my wife is not keen to buy here and prefers costs brava.

I would like to no what the weather and catalan people are really like, also do you need to speak catalan or is spanish ok.

I had a sucessfull building business back in the UK and would like to continue working as a builder (to young to retire) over here, is there much call for a good reliable tradesman in that area ?

Look forward to any advice

We have had a property on the coast near Figueres since 2001, which we have used for holidays. We are going to move there permanently in April. We have always found the locals to be helpful even though we only speak a little Spanish. Very few people speak any English and even then it is only a little.
They are all fluent in, Catalan, Spanish and French. There are a lot of French tourists but very few Brits where we are, but I believe that there are more in Rosas.

The weather is better than the UK but not as good as CDS. It can get quite cold in the winter but the summers are sunny and warm.

There is a lot of construction work being done, but most of it appears to be by local builders. You would need to be fairly fluent in either Spanish or French to get any work.
