Default Costa Blanca South - Sattelite Reception

We have a property between Alicante & Torrevieja. Its mainly rented out for short lets but am interested in getting some English channels . I have seen adverts for 85cm Systems (motorised) which will pickup free to view channells.

Any ideas what We may get with a 85cm dish and would a 60cm be good enough??

Hi moblies

We were over recently to our house 30 min inland from Alicante. Friend there said he made a blunder buying a smaller dish, and says only 240cm worthwhile if you want good reception of all UK channels...maybe you're in a better reception are if nearer coast between Ali. & Torre. Certainly others also said not worth skimping on dish as you only end up having to replace it in the end to get good results. Maybe others know better for where you are though?

Kind regards

What you have to remember is that there is more than one Astra satellite co-located at 28degs East. They are Astra2A, Astra2B and Astra2D.
What also confuses people is that these satellites have different "beams" concentrated on certain countries.
Sky use both South and North beams on Astra2A and 2B. and also use the Uk directed Astra2D. This is the one that causes most problems with ex pat viewers in Spain. If you have a look at the link below and click on the satellites mentioned above you will see the recomended dish size for each one.

Just to add. You would be able to pick up literally hundreds of free to air channels with a 85cm motorised dish in your location. But not with a Sky box.
