Correo question

I have a very important document to send to the UK.

It must arrive by the 24th Sept. Is there a way of getting proof of posting at the post office so that if it does go astray I can show that I've posted it?

Yes, you can ask for it to have to be signed for at the other end ('con firma').

You ask for it to be sent certificado and you will have written proof.

Yes - but it may never get to the other end so I need proof that I've posted it!

Re: Correo question

I would use a Courier service eg. DHL if it's important. I have used certificado a few times but for some reason seems to be slower than normal post.

When you ask for this service, you get a document showing what you've paid for.

If you want proof of the content you sent, the best way is bureaufax. Certificado only ensures the closed envelope is delivered, regardless its content.

It also has telegram's speed.

Re: Correo question

Thanks for that Juan but fax is no good as I need to send about 100 pages in total including some original copies.

Can anyone answer my question about DHL - should I start a new thread maybe?

Re: Correo question

Thanks to Juan I've just discovered these options http://www.correos.es/ENG/01P-Enviar...-Cpostales.asp

I'll go to a main post office on Monday and ask them for the best way to send it

Just saying to OH that I would never have known such services existed here, as our main dealings with Correos is our local village post office which probably hasn't changed for the past 150 years! Items are stored in an ancient wall cupboard with lace curtains and the thick wooden counter is worn down by generations of arms resting on it - we half expect them to send the mail off on the back of a donkey
