COR bill (Oliva)
I signed at the door yesterday for what looks like a bill from "COR" - something to do with rubbish collection. Does anyone know anything about this? Why has it popped up now and will it be a regular payment? It looks like it's for 6 months - if it's payable twice a year it will be more than our existing basura charge.

It may be the extra payment that Valencia charges. Cannot remember how often it is paid.

Surely the correct procedure would be to firstly write to those on the town hall's list of occupied properties and who currently pay the local taxes?
Finally, did what you signed require giving any bank details or other information or did they have it already on record?

Did you solicit the visit? I ask because surely there's a more efficient way of organising this payment collection than coming to occupier's doors hoping to catch people in? What if people are out, on holiday or only occupying holiday homes at certain times of the year?

I'm still a bit confused though. The OP didn't give the impression that the bills were being just delivered personally (I could accept that.....just!) but also signatures and authorisations for payment were being sought on the 'doorstep' also. Odd I think.

Thanks for that. I was going to ask how efficient it can be to do this personally to all properties and maybe have to come back if people are not there, then I remembered it's Spain and probably a job creation scheme!

Its a while ago now, but I'm sure we had to sign for the notification telling us about the change. Our town hall is like that though, they tend to deliver stuff. Up until last year I used to get my car tax notification hand delivered to me as well!

Isn't this the same tax as I asked about in another thread (Tax)?
On further investigation it is in addition to the basura and payable to the company who recycle the rubbish, I think. All to do with the enviroment.

I stand to be corrected.

Re: COR bill (Oliva)
When I was notified that I had to pay additional money I received it via the post but it had to be signed for. So many of us were not at home when the postie came that there was a long queue at the post office every day because it is only open for 1 1/4 hours each day. The notification had to be taken to the bank to set up the payment which I do not think was affected for a couple of months. I believe that it was for the re-cycling but this happened a couple of years ago not recently, hence my not being sure what it was for.

Re: COR bill (Oliva)
The seperate/extra eco/recycling charge came in about a year ago in this area.
My demand came by post and having checked it out, it does seems to be a seperate extra legal charge.

What area are you in ? So we are lucky in Oliva that we haven't had to pay it until now?
