Contemporary Authors...
Any recommendations for some contemporary authors writing fiction in Spanish? Or anything written from the 60s onwards...

Re: Contemporary Authors...
Recommending books is difficult - I think it's a very personal thing. Also i think gender probably influences taste to some degree. That said...
I have read and loved several books by Eugenia Rico and also by Marta Rivera de la Cruz - just started her latest, En tiempo de prodigios. Also recently read La Cara de Marte by Esther Bendahan. As for autores rather than autoras, I liked El bufalo de la Noche by Guillermo Arriaga - Mexican rather than Spanish, and have on the pile to read this summer En el cielo con diamantes by Senel Paz. For more ideas, have a look at www.abretelibro.com - the best book forum I've seen. |

Keith Walters reads books in Spanish so I think may provide you with a good list.

Aye, you’re absolutely right, you really do need to know someone before you can really recommend books. But anyway, will take any suggestions…
I must admit I read more male writers, not through any real preference but possibly subject matter tends to appeal more. I’ll search out those that you’ve recommended and have a look. I like the films Arriaga has written so that one should be a no brainer! |

I have a feeling this one is also being made into a film, but I may have imagined that.
