That was my feeling.

With the recession in house building, good plasterers are desperate for work. Rather than hire someone working on the black ecconomy, I would pay a little extra and contact a reputable building firm.

Yeah. It's that "little extra" that I can't afford. Given that I can already only afford to do it one room at a time. Don't think a reputable firm would be interested in hauling their gear over for a pittance. Because of that it would cost more every time.
