Complacency?
A lot of things wake me in the morning, apart from alarm clocks and force of habit after rising early to travel across London to work. This morning, at around 5.45am, it was different, I was literally shaken awake by an earthquake, a nasty one.
I live near to Torrevieja in an earthquake zone, and we get regular tremors, but this was a real rocker. You can make provisions in life to stave off disasters; I don't intend to travel to Iran this year and the Falklands will have to wait a bit longer; and I'm pleased we've got alternative forms of heating since the electrics are bound to go down soon. But then your sense of complacency suddenly gets rattled and you realise you might as well not bother with the diet and try to get more fun out of life. I'm going to have a coffee and a Mars bar which I'm going to share with the dogs to help calm them down. |

Re: Complacency?
 Don't share your Mars bar with dogs, chocolate is poisonous to dogs. Eat it yourself under the table with dogs :) I had a collie in Scotland who was terrified of thunder, my boys and I used to make a tent out of the dining room table and all sit under it with a picnic til the storm passed.
I know what you mean, some things you just don't have control over therefore I try to focus on those I do have control over...now losing weight, I need something to get me back on track with that one. I have not been eating properly again, just picking at this and that. |
Re: Complacency?
I didn't know torrievieja was in an earthquake zone.
How bad is it. Are there regular emors or much damage? Hope everyone is ok after this one. Best wishes David |
Re: Complacency?
We were terrified, went into panic mode when we experienced our first "did the earth move for you dear" experience.

Re: Complacency?
Same down here we get regular small ones, but the earth did shake for us last September, most people dont realise Spain gets earthquakes. So it would seem to me anyway when chatting:confused:

Re: Complacency?
Ok so looking at that map anyone in Andalucia theoretically should/could have felt it too....? Or have I misunderstood the map or the seismic ripple effect? I was driving at 9.24 and OH about to board a plane so neither terribly likely to feel it!!!
