Companions for Winter in Gran Alcant
I am retiring in September 2018. I have a 3bed house in Gran Alicante where I plan to spend most of the winter and 3 or 4 holidays across the rest of the year. This was meant to be a new venture for my husband and I but he sadly he passed away in his sleep unexpectedly at Christmas 2017. I am looking for a few people to join me for the winter months, to share the better weather and help me find a new social life. I am a young minded 62 year old lady with a lovely family and two gorgeous grandsons, so generally happy but I need some help settling into this new single life in Spain. Looking for any suggestions on how to advertise the house -share or other ways to attract like minded new companions

Just start going out and about and you'll soon make friends. There are a lot of nice places close to you.
Once you meet some people I am sure they can help from there.

Thanks for both replies. I will certainly check out U3. It maybe wasn’t clear from my original post, but I am looking to let out some rooms at my house overvwinter as well as build a new social life. Just thought it may be easier with companions/housemates to start things moving while I get used to doing things in my own again. I will get there - it’s just that first push. Also as I do not drive I am limited on where I can go.

Your call but you probably won't need to let out rooms to meet people and start a social life. Suggest you try a few social groups including U3A before you let people into your home. Good luck.

Re: Companions for Winter in Gran Alcant
Hi i may be interested but not sure when at the moment. I am 59 and long term separated and will divorce at some point. I am planning to live in Spain and UK maybe first. Its all complicated and trying to figure out the best place for me. I know i can't retire here in California anyway. I have been to Spain 2 times in the last 4 years just popping over for 10 days whilst visiting my mum in Windsor. My brother lives Villa Martin (Torrevieja) but i prefer northern Costas. I would like to go longer term but would have to give up everything here first. Phew. I know i can't retire here and need somewhere affordable and warm or be back in England where i have family.
Anyway we should keep in touch.

In terms of people living with you, you would probably be best going through a reputable agency who may be able to recommend people (tenants) who are already on their books or can help vet new people. However, I myself am looking for accommodation in Alicante from September to December and very likely beyond, so I have sent you a private message about myself. Good luck. Beckfordburger.
