Why can't people see beyond colour and refer to them in different ways. For example, "the man over there in the red jumper" not "the chinki over there".
Or am I being too simplistic?
And if there are two men over there in red sweaters, one black and one white?
My husband is from Nigeria. He is black. He calls himself black and prefers to be known as black.
I'm sure he does, and like you, I'm white, and take no offence whatsoever if he was to refer to me as white. It's all a load of sanctimonious claptrap.
