Close shave

Took the sports car for a spin tonight.

Driving (luckily) down a straightish road, hit a pot hole, and the bonnet lit shot up and deposited itself agaonst the windscreen, so there I am driving blind.

Luckily no injury, but unfortunately the demise of an expensive carbon fibre bonnet which I have no idea how to source a replacement for in Spain!

Happy motoring on Spanish "roads"

Carbon fibre? You mean you were out for a spin in one of those 500cc Aixim don't-need-no-licence micro-car jobbies, and overcooked it. We see loads of those around the Hondons - most have whole sections missing where the 'driver' (for the want of a better word) has misjudged a fast bend at 12 miles per hour...

But on a serious note - at least you're OK - did it break anything else (hinges, brackets, etc) on the way out?

Heh heh .... no ... the cars here
www.jonjones.org.uk

The bonnet hit the screen and tore the two rear corners off ... I haven't checked the hinges as its dark. Its a write off (bonnet) .... I got the original from Hong Kong, so I may be able to get another from there.

Oh my goodness Mitzyboy, what a shock!

You've had a few rough times in recent months, haven't you? :(
The most important thing is that you're OK, of course.
I'm sure you're pretty gutted about the damage to your car, but at least that can be replaced...................whereas there's only one of you!

Hope you've got some better times around the corner :)

You were really lucky as you said, you are safe and not injured. I know that to you the car is important but in the scheme of things it is not.

Take care.

Sorry to hear tis but you are ok thats the main thing.

I have a Cosworth and after a long debate decieded not to bring it over and sell up. With it being a specialist car etc and live mapping needed with it being a bigish spec i got rid.

I supply body panels etc though not carbon fibre stuff but know owners of your marque car, i will ask around anout a replacement to help out as know of people with carbon bonnets. If you PM me the year erc i will see if i can sourve one for you, though not promising anything but will do my best.

Glad you are ok Mitzy, and your poor car could be worse. I know I would feel gutted if it happened to my baby, so thinking of you.At least you are ok, a car,.............................................. can be replaced, a life can't.

Cars bits can be replaced.. we have the technology.. most of Mitzyboys bits can't, we don't have that technology yet.. Glad you are OK, and at least the car is in a repairable state.
