Nor here (in La Axarquia, East of Málaga). In fact a huge new Chinese bazaar shop was opened (the premises used to be a car dealership) in May of this year.

Re: Chinese Bazaars closing?

A few have closed round here and in Albir (but there seemed to be around 10 at least in the town).
One closed and we watched all the stock being moved to the shop down the street.
Ive always thought that maybe these were some kind of 'franchise' where a parent company supplied the stock and you just took a cut.

I also don't believe that they are going home to get vaccinated. If the business is legal and they are paying taxes and SS contributions, would they not be eligible for state healthcare and a SIP card?

Also the cost of shipping containers has gone through the roof, I use a company who has a warehouse in Germany and the shipping for a container has gone up by nearly €9000 in the last year. So you could blame the pandemic.

Next time Im in our local one I will ask them.

Two or three Chino shops have closed in Benidorm but they were the one's that just sold clothing. All the Chino warehouse type outlets are all still open and busy!!

I haven't seen any close around here. There are 3 on my street and most of the bars on the adjacent streets are also Chinese owned. They all speak Dutch since they are the main customers.

Re: Chinese Bazaars closing?

We have a few closed around us (Madrid, Las Águila), and they were lovely people. They had unfortunately been vandalised a bunch of times and said that they had been attacked in the shop or verbally abused over COVID. Really shame, they have just been replaced by other Chinese store owners, so let’s see how it goes. Real shame… ignorance and narrow mindedness is strong here in the capital.
