Child Benefit

Hi,

Quick question regarding benefits in Spain.

I have been offered a job over in Spain and more than likely going to accept so just going through finances, would we still be able to get child benefit in Spain like we do now in the UK? We have a 6 year old boy and that's the only benefit we receive but it's enough to make a difference so need to cost it in.

Cheers

Unless you are in receipt of a contribution-based benefit no you cannot export child benefit.

I don't think things have changed. We did not receive child benefit after we left but we were self-employed in both Uk & here. Our daughter did not have child benefit either. She is married to a Spaniard, her child born here,& was working & paying Soc.Sec. in Spain. At this stage with so many cuts I would be surprised if you were able to get this from UK & who knows what else may be altered.Pensioners might get their state pension frozen, which they paid in for so it,s all up in the air.

If you are thinking of Spanish child benefit, then AFAIK there is no such thing in Spain.

there isn't a child benefit in Spain. I remember some Spanish friends moved to Ireland and started to get CB there...they couldn't believe the country "paid" you for children
