I don't like gammon myself, and I can't cook it very well, but apparently she bought a joint and boiled it, like ham and said it was delicious.

Can someone ask the English butcher if he sells skirt ?? Makes a damned good stew, but so difficult to find in British butchers now. And brains...now if he sold sheeps brains I might even venture down there myself. Dipped in beaten egg, rolled in breadcrumbs, and lightly fried. Yummy:p :p :p

LOL..John food can cheer you up in moments of desperation as any 22 stone fatty will tell you!! My mother used to cook us brains as kids, so although I can imagine it might make many of you sick it holds no fear for me. We are squeamish about these foods, but happily eat foods like black pudding and haggis which can contain minced rectum among other things:eek:  Slices off the side of a pig, grilled chest bones.. we just call them ribs. Sausages contain we know not what... All the palatable foods are dressed up to make them sound like something other than they are. I remember going on a sailing trip with some kids where one of the mums who came along cooked a whole salmon.. one of the lads said sorry , I can only eat proper fish from a fish and chip shop:D :D . Give me a lovely set of brains any day over a heart attack inducing pork pie...
