Cheap pesticide
Dunno if it's any use, but I went into the local store to buy Confidor, bracing myself as it's damn near 100 euros for a litre, and the guy asked me if I wanted a generic version.
It's called Terrasita, and like confidor it's a 20% b/v of imidacloprid, and cost 27 euros, which is a lot better.
Beats paying an extra 70 euros for a name.
Check other pesticides too as they too often have a generic version.

Yes, I use a generic version but it did not have a name, just the composition.
I worked out that a litre of the real thing, if bought on the blister packs in most viveros would cost about €700.

Oh yeah, that's certainly not the way to go. Weedkiller too. I've managed to source glyphosate at 22 euros for 5 litres, which is a fraction of what I had to pay originally.

I need some weedkiller to kill off weeds growing wild adjacent to my plot. Would glyphosate be suitable and where did you buy that?

Re: Cheap pesticide
Don't kill off weeds outside your plot if the goats ever pass. Have a friend in Coin who did that, Goat-herd threw poisoned meat in their garden, one of the dogs had a horrible death.

I think there may be a rule about using chemicals on open land.
I have often seen bottles of weed-killer hanging from a tree to indicate that it has been used.
Anyone know about this?

I went to a co-op. Ask around tho. Prices vary from 22 to 102 for 5 litres, so a bit of troble searching can save you an awful lot.

Re: Cheap pesticide
Nope. Never heard about it. These days given that glyphosate is so effective, safe and cheap, it maks little sense to use anything else. Environmentally it is a good bet too, as on contact with the soil it breaks down tooty sweety and does not leave harmful residues to build up in the soil.
Plus the treated veg isn't a threat.
