Changing small denomination euro coinage?
Throughout my life I have tended to throw all my small coinage into a bucket or jar at the end of the day and every few years I change it up. Its easy nowadays in the uk as most banks have coin sorting machines. But, what is the score in spain / portugal ???? I have a jar full of 1,2,5 & 10/ 20 cent coins. Do we have the laborious task of counting them into bags or is there a facility that will sort them and pay you in euro notes? I cant say that I have seen a machine on the infrequent visits to the bank here? Any thoughts ?

Thanks for the reply Bryony. I was afraid that might be the case.

Hola
The change machines in the UK are under investigation about their charges; I believe they charge 15% but am unable to confirm.
I regularly get given small change for Age Concern; I simply count it and then pass it over in Mercadona during a quiet time (siesta between 3-5 o'clock). They are happy to count it as it helps them. Our treasurer used to get the coin holders from banks and then get her grandchildren to make the coin holders up but found this to be a tedious exercise.
