Certified Photocopies

Can anyone tell me who needs to certify our passport photocopies for NIE applications?

Also I have been told by someone I need a work visa for Spain  I thought as an EU citizen I didnt need one?

And (sorry for so many questions) does anyone know the nearest police station to La Linea that I can apply for an NIE number? or if iI can do it in La Linea

Since you need to present your original passport in person at the police station, along with the photocopy, I would not expect that you require any certification.

http://www.mir.es/sites/mir/medium/e...esidencia.html (See bottom of page - no mention of certified photocopy, just a photocopy).

You don't need a work permit for Spain as an EU citizen.

I suspect that the NIE is like the DNI, in terms of the offices that will deal with it, hence check http://www.mir.es/sites/mir/medium/d...icinasDNI.html

Unexpat is quite right, nobody has to certify passport photo's for residencia, just turn up with passport and 2 copies of it, also if you have already completed the forms you need copies x2 of those as well.
Very easy to do. Ours were completed withing four weeks from start to finish.

The Information given is correct complete the N.I.E FORM twice, 2 copies of passports YOU must be in attendance with original passport, and here’s the good news, FROM 11th Feb 2006 most larger police stations (ELCHE) are stamping them and returning them to you immediately, thus avoiding that week or twos wait before picking them up. Perhaps Spanish administration is getting better………… . I wish..

Do you mean you collect your NIE number straight away? Does anyone know whether La Linea police station qualifies as a "larger" police station?

Woohoo :D

Now, now, rickstevens, remember it is Spain. but good news if they do turn them around that fast, what I did not mention is you will also have your fingerprints taken for the card.
Have fun!
